The FAS Plus Military carrying system has two adjustable metal rods in the back plate. Unlike most other carrying systems, including those from very well-known tactical manufacturers, the back length is continuously adjustable, and the carrying system remains flexible. The maximum length of the carrying system is set using two straps, which can then move downwards via a rail system and thus be shortened. When hiking, the carrying system can slide up and down on the two rails, allowing the back length to adapt to torso movements. If the torso is compressed by natural movements while hiking, the carrying system slides down the rails and the carrying system shortens. Therefore, even with a "compressed torso," the shoulder straps still rest on the shoulders instead of briefly losing contact, as is the case with systems with rigidly adjustable back length. The hip belt also remains constantly in its position, regardless of body movements. This results in less friction on the wearer's pelvis, leading to increased carrying comfort and more stability when moving. The shoulder straps feature quick-release buckles, and the hip belt is completely removable.
